What makes hadj design unique?

1. Green roofs and living walls is all we do. Our research and designs are not an attempt to sell more of a particular product or to expand a list of other services.

2. We were researching and experimenting with green roofs before they became popular. As a result, we have been able to deepen our knowledge through both research and the 50 projects we have completed to date.

3. Unlike many manufactures who push the products in which they have invested and the designers who boiler plate their designs, hadj design has gone out of its way to seek out projects that present unusual challenges. As a result, our design strengths

have been enhanced. Though our background is in architecture, our focus for the past 7 years has been on green roof research, design,

and installation.

4. Hadj design's ability and accomplishments have been recognized by our peers in the field. Through Green Roofs for Healthy Cities we train landscape architects, architects and other building professionals in green roof design and implementation for which they receive continuing education credits. Hadj has been instrumental in producing and peer reviewing the content of these courses as well as delivering the training content.

5. Our knowledge comes from both research and experimentation in the design studio as well as getting our hands dirty in the field. Unlike many designers, our design decisions are informed by our field experience. Hadj decided to pursue becoming a certified applicator of several waterproof membrane types simply to more fully understand one of the most critical components of green roof assemblies. Hadj experimented with over 20 different growth media formulas in order to more fully understand the complexities of soil chemistry, structure, and biology in the green roof context. Hadj continues to stretch its plant palette with every project. Hadj has become a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and continues to explore the horticultural limits of what can be achieved.

6. Our strength comes from the faith of our clients to experiment with us. Whether exploring steep slopes, uncommon aesthetics, or any of the 20 plus variables related to green roofs and biophylic design in general, our client know that our knowledge and judgment comes from first principles and a highly varied project history. We place quality ahead of quantity.

Hadj design is a one-stop shop for green roof expertise. Hadj is a certified applicator for several waterproof membrane systems, and a certified green roof trainer for Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Hadj has directed the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild's green roof project, designing and installing 20 green roofs.

As of January 2005, hadj now installs both residential and commercial green roofs and have completed 30 projects since. Hadj also conducts various green roof workshops, nationally and in Canada.

Hadj design-build designs and installs all elements of both commercial and residential green roofs, from initial preliminary design consultation, to installation of warranted waterproof membranes, to growth media composition, to plant selection.

By providing a range of choices and by integrating our design and installation approach, we provide a green roof that allows for current improvements in the industry, while providing the cost efficiencies of a completely in-house design-build process. With fewer subcontractors and fewer consultants, and with a team that works on all of the elements of a green roof, hadj design offers the most cost efficient and ecologically sensitive green roof available.

Hadj design has directed the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild's green roof project for the past five years. We are a certified trainer for green roof expertise through Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. We also provide commercial green roof expertise.
